Peg Achenbach, OD, joins Contamac as Chief Medical and Academic Strategist
Contamac Ltd. (Saffron Walden, Essex, UK) appoints Peg Achenbach, OD, FAAO as Chief Medical and Academic Strategist for Professional Services, Vision Care at Contamac US. In this role, Dr. Achenbach will oversee the development of Contamac’s comprehensive continuing education programs with strategic focus in the specialty contact lens arena. Most recently, Dr. Achenbach was the Senior Director, Professional and Medical Affairs for Johnson and Johnson Vision Care, Vistakon. Dr. Achenbach has also spearheaded research and drug development efforts in oncology, HIV, tuberculosis, antimicrobial agents and dermatology while serving as Vice President of Medical Operations for SDR Pharmaceuticals, a company she co-founded. “I am enthusiastically committed to Contamac’s mission -serving students, doctors, patients and communities in specialty lens education, clinical care, research and leadership.” said Dr. Achenbach. “I believe my background, combined with the corporate and academic relationships that I have enjoyed over the years, have positioned me perfectly to help shape this quickly expanding area of optometric education and practice development.” Following her graduation from Pacific University College of Optometry, Dr. Achenbach directed the development of new contact lens solutions and materials while managing clinical research at Bausch & Lomb. She also founded a practice specializing in contact lenses and low vision and was in private practice for 16 years. Dr Achenbach joins Timothy O Koch, C.O.T., FCLSA, and Martin Conway, FBDO as the newest member of the growing Contamac Professional Services team.
