February 05, 2014 Posted by O. Otero

The Manifesto of the European Coalition for Vision (ECV) has been launched in Strasbourg, in an event hosted by MEP Marian Harkin. EUROMCONTACT is a ECV member. The ECV manifesto calls on the European Parliament Members and candidatesto tackle the growing eye health burden and prioritizing the eye vision and health in the public health strategies. Regular eye care for all, easy access to care and rapid interventions when necessary would tackle most of the burden.

Helmer Schweizer, EUROMCONTACT President stated that this event and the manifesto, calling for eye health and vision to be leveraged on the European public health agenda is timely, with the elections at the European Parliament coming up.Today in Europe, 20.4m Europeans are suffering from vision impairment and this should be taken into account in the European public health agenda. Euromcontact, as the voice of the contact lenses and lenses care products industry in Europe, is committed to support this initiative.
