Module 7 of the IACLE Contact Lens Course is now available in print and on CD-ROM. The module titled, "Contact Lens Related Ocular Complications" will be distributed to each registered IACLE Resource Center in May 2004. The IACLE Contact Lens Course is designed to be a comprehensive resource that equips the educator with all the materials necessary to teach contact lens practice at the highest level. It is also useful as a student textbook or reference. Module 10, "The Business Aspects of Contact Lens Practice" has been revised and updated. Each IACLE Resource Center will receive a print copy to replace Edition 1 and as well, will receive the module on CD-ROM. Topics such as building, marketing and managing a successful contact lens practice as well as standards of practice are included in four sections. The new videotapes contain 10 updated topics and nearly 200 minutes of teaching footage. Popular topics such as Complications in Contact Lens Wear, Slit Lamp Biomicroscopy Techniques, Introduction to Spherical and Toric Soft Contact Lenses, and The Anterior Segment Quiz are included. The continued provision of educational resources is made possible through the generous support of IACLE industry sponsors. ================================================================== CHINA EDUCATOR’S MEETING IN SHANGHAI IACLE will hold the third session of intensive training in China at the Donghua University in Shanghai from May 10 - 14, 2004. The training sessions will include contact lens related lectures and workshops on topics such as Anatomy and Physiology of the Anterior Segment, Contact Lens Care and Maintenance and Specialty Contact Lens Fitting. Qu Xiaomei, IACLE National Coordinator for China can provide more information for anyone interested by contacting her at quxiaomei2002@hotmail.com The week-long extensive educational program begins with an evaluation of baseline knowledge and finishes with an evaluation of newly gained knowledge so as to measure how the participants have broadened their knowledge base. As China has been designated a priority country for IACLE development, this is the third in-depth, comprehensive educational program that IACLE has provided to Chinese educators. ================================================================== IACLE PROVIDES CONTINUING EDUCATION IN INDIA An IACLE Special Symposium in Contact Lenses was held at Sri Sankardev Nethralaya supported by a special grant from B&L India. Forty practitioners attended the two day program held March 26-27, 2004. Dr. Magdalene Damaris (FIACLE) and IACLE Coordinator for India, Ms. Lakshmi Shinde delivered lectures in Spherical Contact Lens Fitting, Wear Modalities, Presbyopia and Practice Management among other topics. The product lectures were delivered by Mr. Neeraj Dabral, Professional Head of the sponsoring company, Bausch & Lomb. Hands-on sessions were also conducted on both days following didactic lectures.
